It seems like as soon as Day Light Savings time ends, the year begins to wiz past into the holidays with breakneck speed. As Christians, we want to honor Thanksgiving as a special day with family and friends as we thank God for our many blessings, to take the time to be thankful. Within days of Thanksgiving, we have the four weeks of Advent. It’s hard not to get swept up into the commercial frenzy that Christmas has become in the United States. On the day after Halloween, the radio station 94.7 FM began playing Christmas music 24/7! Many cities have already begun hanging decorations on streets. Home Depot and Costco have a full compliment of Christmas merchandise on hand. The Advent season is four weeks of thought and meditation on the coming of Christ. Pick up an Advent devotional book to read daily and share it with your family. Join us on November 26th as we hang the greens in the Sanctuary and deck the halls of the church. Come to the Advent Family Dinner on November 29th to share in a tradition of ornament making and fellowship. Plan to attend any and all of the musical concerts at the church on the December Sundays of Advent or visit a Laurel Hall School Christmas program! All these events are opportunities for families and individuals to begin to prepare theirs hearts and minds for the arrival of the Christ child. Take time during this busy season to ponder the wonders of the coming of our Savior.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see- I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
Christmas Blessings,
