Ministries and Fellowship of Emmanuel

Music Programs and Worship Service opportunities: We have three vocal choirs, a middle school Praise Band, Sunday Praise Band and handbell choir under the direction of our minister of music, Mark Longfield. There are opportunities open for helping with the church services. We have frequent training for Acolytes, crucifer bearers, ushers, lectors, Worship Assistants, and communion assistants. We also have need for musicians for special music or to join the various musical groups.

Youth Activities: 4th-6th grade, Jr. and Sr. High, and Young Adult weekly /monthly events. There are many opportunities for study, Confirmation, afterschool programs, Movie nights, fun activities, youth leadership, and growth. Each year Emmanuel sponsors World Vision's 30 Hour Famine with special activities, events, prayer, bible study, advocacy, and a breaking fast meal. Join us this summer for Youth WooHOO! Wednesdays!

Parish Education provides Sunday school, including adult classes in parenting, biblical studies and a forum for faith and life discussion, and our Summer Vacation Bible School. Join us for this summer's RainForest Adventure program and for middle school kids Praise Band Camp August 11-15, 2008.

Home Visitation Team- provide warm greetings and Holy Communion as they visit members who are ill or homebound. Pastor Paul Kloth heads this team with frequent training sessions so the team may provide our parishioners with God's word, Holy Sacrament and comfort.

The Book Nook gift store continues to serve the Emmanuel community with Augsburg Publishing books, unique gifts and cards.

Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scout and Brownie Troops are sponsored by Emmanuel. Boy Scout Troop 84 has its annual Pancake Breakfast each February.

Emmanuel is involved in many outreach programs through Social Concerns: Christmas Angel Tree, Red Cross Blood Drive, County Social Worker partnership and sponsorship, year-long food collections and toy drives for the holidays for Lutheran Social Services and other local charities. Many members participate in various social advocacy programs, and walk-a-thons such as AIDS, LSS, and the Revlon walks.

Emmanuel members participate in many Global Mission Ministries such as making quilts, knitted & crocheted layettes, school and health kits for LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF, the Fair Trade and Equal Exchange coffee, arts and crafts programs. We sponsor missionary families and seminary students. See the Missions page for information on our current missionaries.

Thai Christian Fellowship Church-a mission church to the local Thai community. Pastor Bangern Jinna provides a welcoming church.

Laurel Hall continues to provide high quality Christian education with strong after school programs which include sports teams and extended daycare. During the summer there are unique programs for sports, arts and music for the students.

ECC- Laurel Hall Early Childhood Center serves our community as an outreach of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. We welcome any child from two years through five years of age who is in good physical and emotional health and whose parents desire a caring, Christ centered early childhood experience for their child.
Fellowship at Emmanuel is important to our community Outreach and Evangelism.
Coffee time on the patio and fellowship at our many receptions are always enjoyed with lots of Good Old Fashioned Lutheran Coffee, many goodies, and SMILES!
    
Emmanuel has many women's opportunities and activities to enjoy fellowship, service, and spiritual needs.

Quilters make quilts for LWR and baby quilts for low income mothers and families in L.A.

The Altar Guild provides for our liturgical and seasonal needs for church decorations and paraments. They also set the Lord's Table each week for Holy Communion and provide a spiritually welcoming home for Emmanuel and its visitors.

There are two bible study forums for women, each meeting once a month- the Saturday Study and EWES (Enlightened Women of Emannuel Study the Bible). Check our calendar for dates and times.

Our women's groups are members of the Women of the ELCA and participate in the various Cluster and Synod events for women. All ages of women in the church are invited and encouraged to participate.

Each year the ELC Women sponsor a tradition of Tables of 8. Each year is a themed luncheon and features a speaker and entertainment. This is a great time for Moms and daughters or to invite friends to enjoy the women's fellowship at Emmanuel.
